Installing a drive

CAUTION:

Do not operate the system with any of the front or rear drive cage bays empty. To maintain proper airflow and sufficient cooling, all drive bays in the front and rear cage must have a drive or a drive blank.

Procedure
  1. If installed, remove the security bezel (Remove the bezel).
  2. If you are installing a drive into the internal drive cage, extend the front drive cage from the chassis (Extend the front drive cages out of the chassis).
  3. Remove the drive blank:
    • LFF drive blank

    • SFF drive blank

  4. Install the drive:
    • LFF drive


    • SFF drive

    • NVMe drive (rear drive cage only)

    • uFF drive (rear drive cage only)

  5. Determine the status of the drive from the drive LED definitions (Drive LEDs).
  6. If extended, slide the front drive cages into the chassis (Slide the front drive cages into the chassis).
  7. If removed, install the security bezel.
