Installing a storage controller

Prerequisites

Before you perform this procedure, make sure that you have the components included with the hardware option kit.

Procedure

Power down the server.
Remove all power:
1. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
2. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
Do one of the following:
- Extend the server from the rack.
- Remove the server from the rack.
Remove the access panel.
Do one of the following:
- Remove the air baffle.
- If installed, remove the 4 LFF midplane drive cage.
Do one of the following:
- For Type-a Smart Array controllers, install the controller in the Smart Array modular controller connector.
- For Type-p Smart Array controllers, install the controller in a compatible expansion slot.
Cable the controller.

The installation is complete.
