Diagnostic tools for HPE Smart Array SR and MR Gen10 controllers

HPE SSA can be accessed offline using Intelligent Provisioning or booting from the SPP ISO image. It can also be accessed online by downloading the HPE SSA executables. HPE Smart Array SR Event Notification Service for Windows reports array events to the Microsoft Windows system event log, and records the Smart Array serial log, which includes detailed diagnostic information of the most recent events encountered by the controller. The HPE ProLiant Agentless Management Service reports events to the Linux event log. You can obtain the utility from the Hewlett Packard Enterprise website. When prompted for product information, enter the server model name.

Smart Array reports diagnostic error messages (POST messages) during boot and logs these messages to the UEFI Health Log and also the Integrated Management Log (IML) within iLO. Many POST messages suggest corrective actions. HPE MR Storage Administrator displays event log messages and system messages. To view the event log, in the controller dashboard click View Event Log under the Actions menu. In the Actions menu for the event log, you can download the log file and clear the log file. To view the system messages, click the bell icon, and the messages appear on the top of the window.

HPE MR Storage Administrator reports array events to the application area inside of the Microsoft Windows system event log, which includes detailed diagnostic information of the most recent events encountered by the controller. On Linux, the system event log is located at /var/log/messages. On VMware, the system event log is located at /var/log/vmkernel.log.
